[it's likely she wouldn't even be able to experience it if it were allowed though, with her body as it is.]

...no. Love is different. I guess... [She sighs, and concedes:] sometimes they go together. But they're different.

[she still doesn't understand, not entirely, but she always feels self-conscious when she's brimming over with questions.]

[Her expression pinches. It made her feel like a corpse, when Barbet refused her touch. She knew he didn't want her in his studio, and without even the pretense of lovers, she was barely more than an irritating pet. It was important to her, and losing it was an ache.]

[people have told her that when they didn't want to explain things, but Zinc had never shied away from that.]

A lot of people say that about different things. How old do I have to be to do everything?

Some people are never old enough. It's... about what you know. How strong you are. How smart.

Maybe. Some people don't know, until they've tried.
