[Rose feels someone approaching before they speak, and just prays they won't make too much of a racket. An idle hope, no doubt. This place seems mad, surely the people within it will be as well.

She turns back at the woman who talks, expression dry as the Sahara.]

[She'd cross her arms, but that would mean her shield bracelet wouldn't be ready to go at a moment's notice. Apparently she's developed an immunity to dry looks, even one as potent as this one]

[A small smile creeps across Rose's face. Very small, but it's still there.]

Don't worry. This isn't dangerous. [She gestures to the rings of symbols.] It's a location spell. Where I am, what this place is. And if I can find what brought me here, all the better.

[She pauses a moment, then smiles more.] After that, I'll see about explosions.

Really now? [Harry looks very interested in that information, studying the symbols even more closely] Tracking and location spells are my specialty, but none of mine look quite this cool.

[She has to wonder if the spell is that flashy by default, or if she decided to spruce it up for some reason] If you find anything out, let me know, all my attempts to magic where I am came up nada.

[She grins at that] That's my other specialty.

[Rose just remains firmly seated where she is, not bothering to move when this woman starts looking at her magic. She really was being honest, it's not dangerous, so why bother stopping her. Especially if she's a witch, too.

Oh yes? Well that's rather disappointing, now, isn't it. Hopefully I'm just better than you. [Ouch, Rose. Delivered with utter carelessness, too, like it's very likely true.]

I could use some muscle when the time comes, I suppose.

[Harry raises an eyebrow, shooting the other woman a dry look of her own] Tell me how you really feel. [Turning back to the magic, she shakes her head and continues to study it, probing it with her wizard's senses.]

When you're done, I'll trade spells. [She eye rolls at the muscle comment] Youse got someone youse wants wacked boss?

[Rose just rolls her eyes.] How I feel is that I know nothing about you, and have no reason to trust your skills. I can only hope that you are, in fact, incompetent, and I will have better luck finding our captor and an exit. Can you really blame me?

If you like. I suppose you may have a different branch of magic. [She scowls at that joke.] Feel free to whack your head against a tree, if you like.

[She shakes her head, holding up her hands defensively] Alright, alright, that's a valid point. I guess neither of us is going to be negotiating any peace treaties anytime soon.

Even if our magic operates on different principles, we still might be able to learn new ideas for how to direct and construct it. [So charming] With a skull like mine, it would break. Besides, we could just cut it with your razor wit.

[And a wise thing, to submit. She looks faintly pleased.] Of course it is. But I must admit, I'm not having any luck myself. So perhaps you aren't useless, after all.

Considering the absurd nature of this place, little would surprise me. Aside from location spells, what else do you have up your sleeves? [Her eyes glitter faintly.] Doubtless it would. That's one skill you have, if nothing else.

Well gee golly, it just means so gosh darn much to hear you say that. [Somehow her voice doesn't make that statement seem very sincere.]

Combat Evocation, Thaumaturgy, sympathetic magic, all sorts of tricks. Nothing that I want to give away too much about on a first date. [Eyebrow] How about you? I take it from the trash talk you're not a one trick pony?

Yes, I can tell how grateful you are. [She's eye-rolling again, tch, has no patience for people who put on acts.

Though that list is somewhat impressive, and she raises an eyebrow to show it.] Not bad. I'd have to see you in action, of course, to get a read on you. But it's a nice list. And hardly. I'm adept in protective magic, tracking, and anti-paranormal defense. Combat magic, if you want to be coarse.

Clearly I underestimated your perceptiveness. [This is less an act and more her being a pain in the ass]

Don't worry, I'm a show, don't tell, sort of girl. [She smirks] Well I do like to be coarse, but I appreciate the actual terminology. Were I'm from we refer to combat magic as Evocation. Sounds like we're in very similar lines of work.

Good, because I only believe what I can see. Or sense, at least. But yes, it appears that we are, at least somewhat. Might I ask what you find yourself fending off? Perhaps we have more in common than I'd think. [Or possibly like.]
