[She's not an outgoing woman, to say the least, so she retreats into the shelter of the trees. Back home, she spends days on end in the woods, living on her own. This isn't so different, except that Reian isn't here. She doesn't know what to do without him. He speaks to others for her. Most people don't speak the languages she knows.

So she sends out her shades to look for Reian. Strange, shifting entities, they look like little ghosts. They seem to be made of smoke and shadow. Within an actual shadow, one might not even see them at all. They fly through the Gardens, serving as Nelius' eyes, though they have no true eyes of their own. They float for a while, moving here and there, observing everything. They do not find what they seek, so they return to her, and one might follow them back to where she is.

Among the trees, Nelius waits. She moves her hands, and as she does so, the wind sweeps through the trees at her command, forming countless changing shapes among the leaves.]

-Nelius may have a bit of a problem, sadly... A problem of a certain shrine maiden trying to exorcise her shades, because she thinks they're yuurei. Leaping before thinking is something of a problem of hers.-

Get back here, you! I can't allow you to do as you wish with the people here!

[Nelius is always instantly aware of anything that happens to her shades, and her attention is brought into focus when it's something so aggressive.

It's likely that only one with the same gift of sorcery can vanquish a shade, as they are part of a sorcerer him- or herself, and even then, it would be difficult to do. They do retreat, however, as Nelius pulls them back towards herself, not wanting a conflict of any kind.]

[The origin of the shades isn't that difficult to find, as Nelius wasn't particularly alarmed, and their retreat hadn't been too quick. She was still more concerned with finding Reian. When the stranger appears, Nelius regards her curiously, the shades winding their way around their creator's wrists. They have a slight sentience of their own.

She nods her head once, her eyes wide and thoughtful. She isn't used to speaking out loud frequently.]

-And Sanae gets right into the thick of things.- Are you some youkai? Huh?

[Nelius is startled that she can understand this person. The only languages she can speak are one that is long dead, and one from a distant region. This is her first experience with the Gardens' instant translation. If this person can understand her, then will she be understood?

She shakes her head.] Youkai? [She doesn't know that word.] No. Sorcerer.

Um, what was that just now? With those ghost like beings?

[Nelius nods.

She glances down at the shades and sends one out again, just a little way. They are capable of joining with her shadow and appearing invisible, when they are with her.]

Not ghosts. They--I made them. [They must be infused with a fraction of the sorcerer's own spirit; creating them is an excruciating process. She wouldn't make any more than the three she has now.]

They're safe. [They could cause some harm, if she willed them to, but she wouldn't do that.]
