[Rounding about a corner, Alice was on her way to pick up something from the orcha- GREEN HAIR, SUN DRESS, UMBRELLA, LOOMING SENSE OF DANGER. ROUNDING CORNER BACKWARDS NOW. Whatever she was after was no longer worth it.]

I feel the need to apologize for... everything ever

[ Blond hair, prudish clothes, headband, air of ... was that fear? Yuuka wears a private little smile as she allows the girl to retreat behind those bushes. ] That's odd. [ She says to no one in particular. Perhaps she's speaking with a bird in a tree? ] I thought I heard something. [ She holds her hand out for the little critter, who just ignores it. ] Was it you...?

Yuuka has the effect on people, it seems

[Okay Alice, think. You are in close proximity of... a flower, let's put it like that. A plan of action is needed, but what can be done?

Okay first off, check to see if there's any plant life to avoid, not pissing her off takes top priority. Next, look to see if she noticed anything. If no, slowly make sure to remain unseen and leave. If yes... say you didn't want to disturb her.]

[ If Alice takes long enough to process all that, Yuuka will just sneak up behind her. Still smiling, as she completes her earlier thought. ] It was you.

[ Since Alice isn't moving, she will just reach up and gingerly pluck the headband from her head. Or, at the very least, touch it. ] Though I don't see anyone else wearing one of these.

[A shiver from Alice.] R-Really? I swear I've seen someone else wear one.

Oh~? Perhaps you should introduce me. [ There is an edge of frustration because, for all the things that happened, it felt both like it was so long ago and yet such a short time ago. What was this girl's name again? Did she even bother to get a name? Probably not. Things were rather busy that day. She misses those times... they come so few and far between. ] Hmm, I think it's missing something, though.

[ Yuuka pushes the headband into her own hair with one hand, and fusses briefly with it. ] A frill? Hmm, no, I'm no maid. Some gems perhaps? No? Too flashy.

[ A sigh. ] I guess a bow ribbon would be too plain...

[Alice hides her irritation, but answers anyway.] Oh, not anyone I know personally...

... You could always enter the hat crowd?

[ Yuuka sighed, and there a dull sound as she drops the headband to the ground beside them. ] You're so dull like this. I liked it better when you were small and cute and had some spirit.

[Okay, turning around now.] I was not small and cute! And I have spirit, I just know how to manage it!

... [... Well, that may have been a mistake.]

[ Yuuka's face is awfully close when she does that. ] I distinctly remember a girl, small and cute and weeping. Are you saying I'm getting senile?

... You sure it wasn't Reimu?

Now you're definitely making fun of my memory. As if I would make such an obvious mistake.

[ Yuuka takes a deep breath with her eyes closed. When she opens them and exhales, she actually takes half a step back so she can properly leer size Alice up. ] You could say that...

... Huh? [It was rare for Alice to be this confused. She really had no idea what that had meant.]

You've grown into a fine young woman. Perhaps my pruning did some good after all. [ All smiles. Aren't compliments the best? ]

... [The reaction is silence, she's not entirely sure how to respond to that one.]

[ While Alice's brain plays catch-up, Yuuka crouches and picks up the headband. She even goes to far as to pick off a couple of stray bits of grass before she reaches forward (if Alice is willing) and carefully slips it back into place on the girl's head. ]

[And... that wasn't what she expected to happen.] Ah... thanks. [Nor was that ever something she thought she would ever say to Yuuka.]

Ahh, and here I thought I was going to have to hunt the cat that stole your tongue. [ Or go in after it. One of those. ] You seem so modest, now. It hardly suits you.

You... do know that's just a saying, right? [She managed to take what was said literally AND miss any meaning behind it.]
