Yes!! [She flails around a little, presumably to show off her sliminess. She does indeed appear to be made entirely from green ooze, or at least what of her body is visible around the dress she's waving around.] Erm... Happen? I dunno, when a slime gets big enough and eats enough sometimes there's too much of their body to carry around so they have to let part of it go. I think so, anyway? It seems important when it happens.

Oh, so you are a youkai! Neat, I'm meeting so many! So you can totes take the shape of anupne you want?

Ummm, I still don't know if I'm a youkai! But I don't really know what a youkai is anyway so I guess I could be one, and you seem really happy about thinking I am, so even if I'm not I guess it's okay if you want to think that.

[She nods to herself. Yes, that sounds right.]

Mrhrm! I can be taller or shorter or have a different face or not look like a person at all, but I don't have to think about looking like this and I have to think about it if I want to look different, so I guess this is just how I'm shaped normally? [Yes, that sounds right.]

[there's what appears to be a very young child tramping through the grass near the edge of the forest, still in her white arrival gown. Except something isn't quite right: first of all, she's wobbling like a baby taking its first steps. Second, her body looks almost like a doll's and not a human's, ball-joints and all. Third, she's muttering to herself with the kind of self-awareness and vocabulary most five-year-olds don't possess. It's a little amusing, in fact, to hear such a small high-pitched voice uttering those words.]

This is--completely preposterous. To take me away from him at such a time and return me to this body--it was destroyed! Who would do such a thing, and for what purpose--

[she stops as a cat approaches, glaring a little as if it's offended her. She ignores the scroll it offers and tries to continue, trying to shoo it away as it comes closer.]

I have no time for the likes of you, begone. [instead of obeying, the cat decides to rub up against her legs, and she falls over with a yelp.]

Desist, you insolent creature!

It's more that you can do rad slime stuff that makes you so awesome! Youkai is supposed to be like demon...I guess...but not? It's sorta confusing to me.

Oh, that's cool, I was gonna ask you what you normally look like. Now I'm real curious what kinda world you come from!

Oh no, I'm not a demon!!! [She seems very emphatic about that, at least.] Demons are really bad!! They're really mean, and they do bad things, and I think they hurt the adventurers coming to the cave I live in!!

Hey, the Youkai here are pretty nice! It was a compliment, really!

Wait, adventurers? What do you mean?

[Blink, blink.] I can do that. [Wasn't expecting it though, but a shanghai doll soon hops onto the table and bows, while Alice goes off to prepare.]

[She stops in mid-mental flail, her thought process grinding to a halt while she considers that question.]

Um... I mean... People who adventure? Sometimes people come to the cave I'm in and they've got swords and armor and they say they're heroes or adventurers or something. Sometimes they'll sit and talk with me, but usually they seem pretty busy...

Oh neat! That's totally me!

So what are they doing in your cave, just trying to find stuff or getting into trouble?

You're an adventurer?? [ :o!!!! ] Will you tell me about your adventures?! I bet they're really cool! I've never left my cave but the rest of the world sounds really amazing so I bet you've seen all sorts of neat things!!

[Oh, she's gotten really excited...]

Um...! People come to my cave for a lot of reasons, but there's been a lot more of them lately because I think demons are doing something bad there! [...] Or maybe it was a dragon. Goblins? Um...

If you can move quickly enough to hunt them.

[this line is delivered rather bluntly from the little girl's mouth. Her face betrays very little expression, though she is, in fact, looking at Fran with interest. Not many non-humans can communicate verbally like she can. Her slightly oversized clothing covers most of it, but a close look reveals that her hands and fingers have joints, like a doll's, and aren't flesh at all.]

Mmph...

[She stares at them as though she could cook them with her gaze alone. Out of the unshaped mass of ooze that makes up most of the lower half of her sitting body, a few long, slender, and otherwise featureless limbs begin to snake their way out.]

Can I, though? I mean... Am I allowed to? I don't wanna get in trouble or make anyone mad...

[She doesn't seem to find Lambda's apparent age odd, and she definitely hasn't noticed her joints.]

[Lambda is automatically drawn to the sound of a voice, since she isn't out and about for any particular purpose. With nowhere to be at no scheduled time, she has no reason not to take a detour to investigate. She regards the child in her dress from behind her visor, her sensors making it obvious that she isn't human—or even biological—even before she notices the joints.]

[Otherwise, though, she doesn't quite understand the spectacle before her, and she tilts her head as the child is beset by an overly affectionate cat.]

...Do you require assistance?

[Lambda watches, still expressionless. With all the monsters running about on both Ephinea and Fodra, this is hardly the strangest thing she's seen. Herself included.]

Humans would probably find some fault with it. Do you fear them?

[she understands that the strange mushroom-creatures are harmless, but isn't exactly capable of feeling sympathy for them. And plenty of monsters ate others for survival, it was just the way of things.]

Though I suppose if none of them observe you eating, it hardly matters.

[a human? Perhaps. Something is strange about this one, but it's a good sign she hasn't attacked on sight. In an effort to regain some dignity, Lambda shoves the cat away from her in a surprising display of strength for such a small child. It skitters away, hissing, offended. She watches it go with no remorse.]

I do not.

[she attempts to pick herself up, inwardly cursing the limitations of the humanoid body she was returned to. It had been lost in the shuttle crash a century ago, so why was it intact? Had someone built another one? And why?]

[She had to find Asbel before the Little Queen appeared again. He didn't stand a chance without her, the idiot.]

[she realizes this means she has to revise her previous statement.]

Just what is this place?

If I just ate everything I wanted, a hero would exterminate me.

[Mostly because if she didn't discriminate, the heroes themselves would more than likely be part of the menu as well. But it hurts when she's hit with a sword or zapped with lightning, and anyway it's more fun talking to adventurers than trying to eat them. She likes making friends. It's not as though she has to worry about there being a shortage of food in this place, either.]

I don't wanna break the rules. I'm not a bad girl.

[she tilts her head slightly, unsure how to feel. On one hand, fear of pain at the hands of the sword is hardly an alien feeling. On the other, the thought of compromise merely for a human's sake--]

[her eyelids lower a little, the unnatural red color of her irises still glaringly sharp below them. She looks to the side a moment.]

Is that it? You follow their rules to escape destruction? Why is it they who dictate what is worthy to exist and what must be exterminated?

[there is a profound bitterness in her very young-sounding voice, one that hasn't disappeared despite the months she's spent living side by side with humans.]

[The stare Lambda gets in return is not particularly comprehending.]

Um... I don't think I get it. [She doesn't at all, really.] But it's not like I'm doing it because just they say so! Humans are really interesting and some of them are really nice, too, so I want to be friends with the nice ones, and I can't be friends with them if I break their rules or make them mad.

Sure, I had plenty of them! There was the time I totes had to nab the book of Enchiridion so that we could learn all about being heroes! I had to fight this giant, and there was a bat and this dark wizard, and these total butt head gnomes that kept making me think they were killin' old ladies and stuff. Oh! And there was a time Cake was almost turned into a lump, so I had to go to lumpy space, which is just full of jerky lumpers and I thought LSP was bad. I also get into tussles with the Ice Queen all the time, she's always stealin' dudes. Heck, I even had some adventures here! I almost got killed by a girl who can turn into a monster, but mostly she just acts like a butt. Also, pirates attacked, and I had to go and beat up these skeletons guys, not to mention finish off this real big serpent. Actually, the girl I just mentioned held it down so I could, so I sorta owe her there.

..Yeah...

Cool! Goblins and dragons! We haven't seen those kind here yet! Maybe we will soon!

[ Hug time is good. Florina's trying to turn around to hug Lyn back, but wings make that difficult. ]

[Painwheel's currently busy enjoying all the flowers she's surrounded by. There's so many, and they all look so nice! Oh, and now the most adorable rabbit she's ever seen just hopped on by. Seriously, it was so fluffy and just demanding to be hugged.]

Cute... [She says in a distinctly low and distorted voice. She doesn't really understand how she made it here in the first place, but this place... Doesn't seem too bad, at least at first glance.

Too bad Painwheel herself sticks out in all the bad ways.]

[Well, far be it from Yumeko to challenge her unthinking expectation of food. There is, indeed, a plate set in front of her the moment she finds the table.]
